“I was five weeks out from the Chicago Marathon and spiraling.”
“I’ve been running for a while, and this past year I got accepted into the Chicago Marathon. I was running a bunch of miles but not really strength training. Then I started having this right-sided hip pain. I’d had it before, but when I amped up my mileage again, it came back.
I tried to run through it, but about five weeks out from the marathon it got a lot worse. I was spiraling. I thought, I need to do something right now or else I’m not going to be able to run the race at all.
I asked in my run club group chat if anyone knew of a physical therapist, and someone gave me Emily’s contact info. I signed up for the free phone consult, and then came in for an assessment. We made a plan, stuck to it, and I ran the Chicago Marathon in my goal time, pain free.”
