Kayla Rymer, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist, Daniel Island
A true cheesehead, Kayla was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Kayla grew up playing volleyball, basketball, running track, and staying active with her family (biking during the summer, shoveling snow during the winter).
Kayla knew she wanted to be a physical therapist since 6th grade. She spent several middle school and high school off-seasons in a sports performance training program run by PT’s. Competition, speed work, strength, AND education on the musculoskeletal system…Kayla was hooked! She experienced first-hand how committing to an intense strength and conditioning program yields results on and off the court.
Pursuing her love for volleyball, she was recruited to play NCAA Division I Volleyball for the Bradley University Braves where she spent 4 years as a defensive specialist/libero. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a Spanish minor, she went on to receive her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (go Badgers!).
Arguably the hardest but most rewarding four years of her life, Division I athletics taught Kayla many life lessons she has now translated into clinical practice as a physical therapist. Life throws challenges and unforeseen circumstances your way, and Kayla wants to help you overcome adversity and learn to adapt. She understands the implications of an injury and how sports, physical activity, and competition are a major part of one’s identity. She also recognizes the importance of fueling your body to maximize performance and has since developed a passion for nutrition.
Kayla wanted to work at a clinic where she could address all aspects of health to enhance her patients’ quality of life without limitations from insurance - finding Made 2 Move was a dream come true!
From a novice runner training to run a race for the first time, to a golfer struggling with elbow pain, to an athlete suffering from vertigo or a history of concussions… Kayla wants to empower patients across the lifespan from all backgrounds to move without fear. Whether you need to start moving again, moving more, or moving better - Kayla will get to know you to personalize your plan of care and guide you on your journey to achieve your goals.
In her free time, you can find Kayla running, golfing, or playing tennis on Daniel Island!
